I feel like I always respond to these "Beatle 'fill in the blank' was a jerk/Beatle 'fill in the blank' was perfect" rants the same way but... here I go again!

All the Beatles were jerks at various points in their personal lives. Paul was a control freak, horndog. John was a self centered prick who abandoned his child. George was snooty and had sex with Ringo's first wife. Ringo was an alcoholic...etc. Does that make any of them evil people? No, it just shows that they were normal human beings. I've certainly made many mistakes and have been at jerk a certain times but I'm lucky enough to not have people writing books about it. LOL.

As for talent...all the fabs had their particular strengths and it was the combination of those strengths that made them the greatest musical entity of all time. When they split up, they made some pretty good music but non of it matched the greatness of when they worked together (and with George Martin).

So, once again, I'll go on record as saying it's silly to pit any them against each other. Everyone has their favorite for whatever reason but it took each of them together to make The Beatles.

Nicely said. Though I think they Beatles made some bigger personal mistakes than most people make, and are given more forgiveness for it than a normal person might get.

Was the whole George having sex with Maureen thing ever verified? Just curious!

I believe the George/Mo hook up was for real. I've read it in more than one book...so it must be true! LOL

That really gives me the creeps. Those boys were so grotty. (And Mo, of course.)

Yeah, the whole wife-sharing thing squicks me out, too. And I'm pretty certain that it's a legit rumor... I believe it happened in the late 70s?

Early 70s, actually. Supposedly it blew apart both marriages. I have to give credit to Ringo for forgiving George on that one and making peace with Mo in order to have a relationship with her for the kids' sake.

Of course, didn't Ringo cheat on Maureen left, right and center?

Sure he did, but not with any of the women in the Beatle camp. It's a bit like cheating with your sister-in-law--not cool.

Oh, I don't know:)

So George shagged Maureen and then was pretty cool about Clapton pinching his wife? Maybe he was just a swinger.;P

You have to be the only person ever to say that you think Wings' material surpasses the Beatles'. Making that statement's braver than anything you've done as a Marine! :)

there's a lot of stuff there that's better then some of the crap The Beatles put out.

True, but wouldn't that apply to most artists? There are several wonder bands whose one hit is better than some of the Beatles' crappier songs.

Not that I'm comparing Solo Paul to a crap artist, heh, you know I looooove his good stuff. Just trying to nail down exactly how you rank him against The Beatles... or should I just wait for the topic to crop up on that other comm? :)

I deeply dig Paul's solo work. I have all his CDs and even some on vinyl but I can't say that it surpasses the Beatles stuff. At least not as a full body of work. If you wanna go song by song. Like, No More Lonely Nights is better than Maxwell's Silver Hammer...etc. I would have to agree with points like that. But there is no Paul or Wings CD that is as good from start to finish as any Beatles CD.

However, if you make a mix of the best solo songs from all four of them, you can make some really good imaginary Beatle albums. LOL.

If you still want to disagree about it, just post some more Slave Leia pics and I'll concede everything! LOL :-)

Band on the Run, Flaming Pie, and Chaos and Creation are all great but still have too much filler to be as goo.....can't resist...looking at...must make my point...ugh...YOU WIN!!!

*Denny Laine & Linda were much more talented than John & George. Sgt. Pepper pales in comparison to the brilliant Wild Life. The lyrics to "Let 'em In" are poetry at it's most sublime!*

DAMN THIS TESTOSTERONE! ;-P
