I like a few U2 songs, but like you prefer the Crowded House sound. (I'm a big BNL fan, too.)

I don't care for the Eagles, myself, but I'd say they were iconic for the 70's, although I think Fleetwood Mac has a bit more of the "mythos" charm.

MCR - My Chemical Romance - they've just gotten started into their best material. They're in the "Day at the Races" phase in their career. We'll see.

I like Foo Fighters, but Foo Fighters is to Nirvana what Wings was the Beatles. Good, but not - quite - the - same. Kurt=John/Dave=Paul ;)

PERSONALLY, I like anything that's humorous, either obvious or subtle.

BNL is great! :-)

I like the Eagles - I'm not as much as Fleetwood Mac fan, though I like a few songs. I think they are interesting because they are probably one of the few successful bands that had both male and female lead singers in the same band!

Ah yes - My Chemical Romance - I've only heard one or two songs on the radio from The Black Parade.

I would also say Billy Joel for the 80s. I love him.

Billy Joel - yes, iconic.

I don't like either the Eagles or FM, but as a defining force for the 70's? Yes, probably either would do. Fleetwood Mac has a bit more drama behind it, and some more human interest story, which is why I would put them in the Beatley category. Didn't they breakup badly too?

I really like MCR, probably because they sound like Queen. I think if they can keep up at this quality and rate and keep people interested, yeah, they may be considered an Ought Iconic band.

I have a nubmer of friends who are into MCR, so I've been listening. Some of the Black Parade stuff is realy good, but I can't stand their lead singer's performance style at all. They are one of those bands that, for me, will always be better in the studio than in person.

Now, Green Day, on the other hand...
