I'm sure there was an element of that to it, but I think it was mainly motivated by genuine emotional reasons. John and Paul had such a close collaborative relationship, almost symbiotic, since adolescence. I'm sure they both felt a genuine need to fill that void. They were both rather co-dependent people anyway.

Yes, and if they symbiosis didn't exist, there would have been no need to drag poor unsuspecting wives into it. Getting back at John might be considered a genuine emotional reason.

Hindsight is 20/20 - in retrospect, it's a bit weird.

I'm not so sure that Yoko was "dragged into it". Somehow I think that she was quite an eager participant. LOL

Definitely a bit weird!

I still think Paul would have done the same thing even if getting back at John had not been a factor, though -- he continued to do it after John's death, after all. That's what I was getting at with the "genuine emotional reason" line, though that was obviously not a good way of putting it... :P
